[Spy novel] FIRST EDITION, SIGNED COPY. Bibliographer's copy. Royal octavo (24 x 16cm), pp.x; 257; [3], blank. Publisher's hardcover in original dust-wrapper. SIGNED by the author on an official Hodder & Stoughton book-plate tucked into the book. A fine, fresh copy. Virtually as new. The first of author Raymond Benson's successful series of adventures featuring Ian Fleming's superspy James Bond. From the collection of Ian Fleming bibliographer Otto Penzler, purchased by ourselves at Swann Auctions in 2010, with a pencil note to that effect signed by his bookseller friend and colleague Jon Gilbert. Small octavo-sized magazine. Original illustrated wrappers, lettered in black, red, and white to front, monochrome photograph of Piece Brosnan to front cover. A near fine copy. First edition of the 13-19 November 1999 issue of TV Guide, signed by the author. This issue contains the first appearance of Benson's third James Bond Story, "Live at Five", with an illustration. The issue is devoted entirely to Bond, being issued to celebrate the release of The World is Not Enough, starring Pierce Brosnan. This copy is from the significant Ian Fleming collection of Martin Schøyen (b.1940), whose private collection of manuscripts, which span all cultures and all time periods, is one of the largest and most comprehensive of its kind. Gilbert, p. 613; The Schøyen Collection No. 379. This item was obtained directly from author Raymond Benson.

pp.206. Price $5.95. Magazine format, illustrated. Near fine. Contains the first appearance of the author's debut James Bond story 'Blast From the Past' with exclusive colour illustrations. Also includes contributions from John Updike and Harold Robbins. A fine/as new copy. The appearance of this story in Playboy rekindled the relationship between the literary Bond franchise and Hugh Heffner's magazine; the original Bond stories and novels were serilaised here in the 'sixties, and Benson's James Bond would appear several more times in the periodical before the author's retirement in 2003.
