Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. First Edition (SD, Houghton Mifflin: 'from circa1891 to circa 1953 same date (SD) on title page and copyright page with no later printings' indicates a first edition). You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. Not at all bad for a book published in 1929. There isn't any conspicuous soiling. The spine is tanned. There are small losses at and around the top edge of the spine, a tiny one at the bottom edge of the spine and at the bottom edge of the front cover. The flaps are in quite solid shape, no soiling. There is a small, thin closed tear off the top edge of the front flap, also a teeny tiny loss in two spots there. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. I placed it in a fitted protective cover when I purchased the book years ago. You can see the book in the last couple of photos. The label on the spine is in very good shape. There is some tanning over the original green color where the jacket has its losses, allowing the sun to have done its thing. The covers are quite clean with the exception of two speck-sized spots just below the rear top edge. The cover edges and corners are in surprisingly excellent condition, meaning there is no rubbing. The green color of the two top cover edges is dulled. The book is very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well, absolutely no binding issues. The middle page edge is deckled or rough-cut. Actually it's more of a smooth rough-cut with only a few pages showing a slight bit of roughness, a couple of tiny slivers of loss. The pages are exceptionally clean. The book was either read very carefully or not at all. I don't see any soiling anywhere, not even on the white inside covers and end papers. I'm also not finding any creasing. And there are no markings and no attachments. Finally, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book.
