Soft cover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. ### Devon River Authority Area -- A Guide To Angling In The Area -- 1973 ### ## THIS BOOK: Classified as GOOD. This is 1973 EDITION: First published in 1973. Packed with fishing sites and what to expect, with a pull-out map inside back cover. Cover is a little grubby, very soft and porous card used. So much packed into this pocket-sized book. The adverts are a joy in themselves, a great piece of English history back in 1965. ## FISHING IN DEVON: Angling grows steadily as a pastime for the individual. Some 3,000,000 in 1965 enjoy its pleasure in this country, and Devonshire provides for the holidaymaker a variety second to none. Although coarse fishing is limited, brown trout are found in most rivers and reservoirs, whilst salmon and sea trout provide sport for the game fisherman. # Apart from freshwater fishing, the Devon coast is noted for its excellent sea angling and many "specimens" are recorded each year. In welcoming the visitor to our rivers, we would ask him to study the River Authority Bye-laws. The rivers are privately owned and stretches change hands at as much as [10,000 per mile. Owners, therefore, do not take kindly to indiscriminate fishing. ## Possession of a River Authority Licence does NOT give you the right to fish any water unless you have the owner's permission. Before, therefore, committing yourself to the purchase of a River Authority Licence, make enquiries as to the whereabouts of water on which you can fish, and the type of fishing allowed. Remember that brown trout fishing is mostly with "fly only", and salmon and sea trout has various restrictions in the methods allowed. Many people have not used a fly rod, confining their angling to the use of baits and spinning. When you have once mastered fly fishing, and it is not as difficult as many people imagine, you will extend your field of sport and quickly realise that it is of far greater interest and certainly more skilful than other methods. ## We feel sure, therefore, that the rivers of this county will provide you with fishing in picturesque surroundings, and for those who have not experienced it, an opportunity of learning the art of fly casting, a form of fishing which will provide you with sport throughout the British Isles. ## # ### INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: Please Note.
