First Edition
Hardcover first edition - First edition. Charming book with Caroline Kennedy pictured as dressing up like 16 First Ladies, from Martha Washington to her mother Jacqueline Kennedy. Poems -mostly on presidential themes - by Arlene Dalton interspersed with the illustraitions; information is given about each First Lady depicted as well as on the costumes shown. Illustrated by Charlotte Jeter in full color and duotones. Large format, unpaginated. Very good in glossy red illustrated boards - some delamination near the spine, and a flaw in the lamination process has caused some 'alligatoring' to the boards (apparently common to just about all copies) - contents are just about fine. Very uncommon and appealing.

Hardcover. Condition: USED_GOOD. No Jacket. No edition/printing stated; 1963 copyright by the publisher. A G to VG- 4to children's hardcover. No dust jacket as issued. Red penned 'X' in the upper corner of the illustrated free front end paper. The clean and securely bound illustrated contents are otherwise fine. Red boards with white lettering and a cover photo illustration of Caroline Kennedy. Library-style binding. The thin cellophane-like lamination is separating and has tears in the joints and on the spine. This lamination is also the source of small, whitish, stain-like imperfections (that look like rubbing from a distance) that now cover much of the boards. Lightly bumped upper corners; rubbed lower corner tip on the upper board; lightly bumped spine tail with a nick on the rear corner of the spine tail. No remainder marks.
