First edition. An illuminating pictorial essay of Shackleton's 1914-1917 expedition captured by the brilliant Australian photography Frank Hurley. This volume presents more than 500 of Hurley's extraordinary images of the historic expedition, including many colour photographs never published before. The photographs are complimented by excerpts from Hurley's expedition diary, a chapter about the expedition itself, a biographical essay and commentary on Hurley's photographic techniques.
