Nancy Christensen was in the music program, an occasional dope-smoker, and a member of the U.I.C. ski-team when in 1975 she decided to sign on as cook w/ the Douglas Lake Cattle Company near Merritt, British Columbia. These 297 pages tell her story. There was an ever changing stream of rather macho men who passed through her cookhouse. She had a few pets and a favourite horse or two. She learned to appreciate the wide-open ranch spaces. She fell in love and suffered pain. Camera crews and artists came to document ranch life. The text is complemented by b/w photos of ALL these. Signed (and dedicated) by the author on title page - `enjoy the rest of the story'. Cond : Paper wrapper is a composite wrap-around photo of the author in 2 ranch settings - one with her guitar.
