Condition: Near fine. One-sided 38 cm page with two b&w copperplate engravings. Plate 18, No. 8, p. 16; Plate 19, No. 8., page 31. Single page from "The Universal Traveller: Or, A Compleat Description Of the several Nations of the World" by Mr. Salmon, printed for Richard Baldwin, London, 1759. The image is after the work of Joan Nieuhof whose 17th century views were amongst the earliest reliable reports of China. Nieuhof was traveling as a member of a Dutch East India embassy eager to establish trade relations with China.
Condition: Near fine. One-sided 38 cm page with a handcoloured map at top and b&w copperplate engraving. Plate 38, No. 15. Plate 39, No. 15, p. 9. Slight discolouration to left edge. Single page from "The Universal Traveller: Or, A Compleat Description Of the several Nations of the World" by Mr. Salmon, printed for Richard Baldwin, London, 1759. Map covers coastline from Pu-tay Point, down to the Chin Chew River, with Ko-long-fu, Lakkateyn, Tano-fita, Roo Point, Womends Isle, Petzoa Point, An-hay River, with On-hay or An-hay town and its bridge shown. Also the islands of Amoy, Lifsiou, Que Mwi, Toatta and Gou-fou.
