Faded red lettering on spine. Moderate soiling. Some edge wear, especially on head and tail of spine and corners. Binding is tight. Deckle edges on bottom and fore edge of text block. Interior has some mild foxing and toning. Name of previous owner on first end paper. Features illustrations by Edward Borein, including a color frontispiece and black and white illustrations throughout. Also includes a foreword by Owen Wister, an American writer known as the father of Western Fiction. Set in Montana and Wyoming in the 1880s, Wister called this novel "the best western story about a horse that I have ever read." ; B & W Illustrations; 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall; 76 pp.
