In-8 (23 x 16 cm), broché de 70 pages et 1 page pour la marque de l'imprimeur. Fac-similé sur papier de Chine, broché en tête de l'ouvrage, d'une lettre de Charles Monselet adressée au Docteur Camuset (20 décembre 1883). On joint un autre fac-similé, volant, tiré sur Japon, d'une lettre du Dr Camuset adressée "A mon ami Lamarche" (il s'agit d'une chanson : Paroles de Bibi - Musique de Gounod). Couverture imprimée à rabats marron/beige, le titre est imprimé sur le premier plat avec une petite fleur de lis au dessous, le titre se trouve aussi imprimé en long sur le dos, et le second plat est orné d'un grand et joli fleuron. Le volume est presque entièrement non coupé. La couverture est encore protégée par un papier cristal ancien en bon état. Le dos du brochage est fendu (fente en tête), attache premier plat fragile. Intérieur parfait. Texte encadré d'un filet rouge. A relier. SECONDE EDITION ET PREMIÈRE ÉDITION COMPLÈTE, LA PLUS ESTIMÉE. Une ancienne note au crayon indique sur le papier cristal qui recouvre le second plat : "8.000 / Japon. 1ère édition complète, la plus estimée. La première avec les 2 Rops, Auscultation et Ecchymoses. La figure de L. Legrand : Transformisme." Cet ouvrage a été publié pour la première fois en 1884, également par l'imprimerie Darantière à Dijon. C'était un in-16 avec 47 pages et 2 eaux-fortes dont 1 frontispice de G. Clairin. Le nom d'auteur n'apparaissait pas (tirage à plus de 900 exemplaires avec trois papiers différents). La seconde édition que nous proposons ici contient 4 gravures comme décrit ci-dessus. Cette édition faite peu de temps après le décès de l'auteur, contient 8 sonnets qui ne sont pas dans la première ; elle a été tirée à 200 exemplaires seulement, mis en souscription, savoir 100 ex. sur papier du Japon et 100 ex. sur papier de Hollande. CELUI-CI, UN DES 100 EXEMPLAIRES SUR JAPON. Ce tirage sur Japon de cette seconde édition est devenu très difficile à trouver. Ouvrage très recherché pour les eaux-fortes de Félicien Rops (voir photographies). Les eaux-fortes sont tirées en brun. Georges Camuset était médecin oculiste à Dijon, d'où très certainement de solides liens avec l'imprimerie dijonnaise de Darantière, l'une des plus réputées de son époque, jusqu'à Paris (Darantière travaillait notamment à la même époque pour Edouard Rouveyre). Camuset était aussi connu pour être un des plus joyeux vivants des cénacles parisiens. Référence : Vicaire II, 38-39. BON EXEMPLAIRE, TEL QUE PARU, A RELIER. TRÈS RARE SUR PAPIER JAPON.
