Sir D Y Cameron, RA (illustrator). 1st Edition. ### Highways & Byways in CENTRAL HIGHLANDS by Seton Gordon 1948 First Edition ### ## THIS BOOK: Classified as NEAR FINE, This is the 1948 First Edition, the first edition published in 1948 and reprinted in 1949 ## ## The CENTRAL HIGHLANDS edition of this series of books is in its original blue cloth covering. The titling is on the spine and is gilded, the top of the pages are also coloured blue, the outer edges are slightly discoloured, and there is regular bumping to the corners and spine bottom. Inside, the endpapers are slightly discoloured, there is no foxing throughout the text, and they are clean and clear. There is no foxing on the map, and it is folded correctly. The CENTRAL HIGHLANDS map is on page 420 of the book. I am surprised it has survived. A 75-year-old book. ## ## There are over 80 illustrations by Sir D Y Cameron, RA. The drawing's quality is fantastic; when drawn, a moment in history will never be again; what an excellent way to see how much of the subject of the drawings have changed or disappeared. Take this book on a journey to find each drawing's subject for real.# ## BIT OF HISTORY: Macmillan published the Highways and Byways series of 36 regional guides between 1898 and 1948. These guides: are noted for their presentation of a wide variety of interesting places, notable historical events, local flora and fauna, folklore, and legends, as well as the artwork produced by many noted artists, including Arthur B.
