The diary also contains records of the books that Burney read from her father's library, as well as journal-letters intended for her sister Susanna.Vol I includes an introductory memoir on the author as well as journal and diary entries from 1778 to 1784.Vol II includes letters and diary entries from 1785 to 1788.Vol III includes letters and diary entries from 1788 to 1796.Vol IV includes letters and diary entries from 1797 to 1840.Madame D'Arblay, or Frances Burney (1752-1840) held the post as 'Keeper of the Robes' to George III's queen while successfully maintaining a long writing and travelling career.
