From the introduction: "The Typographic Library and Museum of the American Type Founders Company at Jersey City was probably the finest of its kind in America Henry Lewis Bullen, the founder and curator of the Library and Museum devoted forty years to assembling this collection He took particular pains in his historical notes throughout the catalogue It is these historical notes that will make this catalogue so valuable Listed in the catalogue are forty-three American Type founders with a total of 136 specimen books described. In the Foreign section sixty-eight items are listed from thirty-five foundries. There are seventeen specimen books listed that were published by twelve printers. Under the title 'Miscellaneous Typographica' fourteen more items are described. The catalogue will be a great aid to collectors in identifying specimen books and gives a partial guide as to what to look for plus a ready reference to the history of the foundries themselves."
