A collection of quips, quotes and anecdotes of Douglas Jerrold, put together by his son. Bound in brown ribbed cloth, showing embossed blind-tooled panels of design work to front and back covers and gilt title on spine. Binding is sturdy and shows minor shelf wear to covers. Spine caps are folded over but not split or frayed, corners crisp. Bookplate of previous owner (Grandfather of Charles Dana Gibson, the illustrator) has caused some staining to front endpapers. Minor foxing to both ffep. and to rear endpapers, most all pages clean. While all edges trimmed, possibly 5 pages were cut by a reader, with small corner loss to 2 pgs.

Foote and H.W. Keay, respectively). Owner name on first two leaves, both hinges neatly strengthened, spine ends worn, a just about very good, and very well-traveled, copy. An uncommon book on Egypt and "written in aid of a Constitutional Egypt.".
