Leather bound. Early edition. 832pp. Quarto [27 cm] Heavily embossed brown leather boards, with a gilt stamped title on the front cover. All edges gilt. Fair. The front cover, along with the first 18 pages and the last several pages, are completely detached, but present. The back cover is hanging on by a thread. The leather backstrip is absent. The underlying boards are exposed along the edges. As is. Embellished With Over Five Hundred Engravings, Maps, Charts, Diagrams, And Illustrations In Oil Colors By The Great Masters.

Good condition. Hinges are slightly cracked with some reglued broken areas. Pages 715 through 808 have a 1/4" to 1" triangular brown stain at upper edges of hinge area; binding a bit loose; corners are worn to boards; edges are rubbed & scuffed with a few digs along outer rear side edge; spine edges are chipped with some loss of leather binding; a 1" jagged tear at upper spine edge has been noticeably repaired; there is some tearing in the lower outer hinge areas.
