Yellow coloured tint to the top text edge. Plaintext dustwrapper with blue and white coloured titles to the front panel and white coloured titles to the back strip. This book is a first English translation published in 1962. Rudolf Bultmann, in New Testament scholarship, wrote of the Recovery of the Kerygma  accusing fellow theologians of turning a blind eye to the fact that the Kerygma was " . embedded in the language and thought-forms of First Century mythology, with a Jewish apocalyptic or Hellenistic Gnosticism. But neither of these is acceptable to a man nurtured on modern scientific thinking, and Kerygma is rejected with myth. Bultmann would therefore conserve the Kerygma and make it excepted by interpreting, not  as did the Liberal Protestants  by eliminating it. Bultmann proposes and interpretation in terms of existentialist philosophy."  from the front fold over panel blurb of volume 1. This created a theological storm in Germany and volume 1 and volume 2 are arguments and essays by theologians arguing against Bultmann's hypothesis, with some of the responses by Bultmann. *Kerygma:  is defined as "the apostolic proclamation of salvation through Jesus Christ"  online dictionary of Merriam-Webster.
