The American Philatelist is the oldest continuously published philatelic journal in the world, the first issue having appeared in January 1887. The magazine is published monthly for members of the American Philatelic Society. It has the appearance of a standard glossy color magazine, typically running about 100 pages per issue. As the house organ, there are monthly departments covering American Philatelic Society news and activities, a president's column, and other articles specific to the Society itself. The core of the magazine consists of 5-10 articles on subjects related to philately. All of its articles feature color illustrations, graphs and charts. This issue contains the following articles: "Come to Hartford for StampShow 2008"; "How To: Advice for Beginning PPC Collectors" (topical collectors of Picture Postcards) by Barbara A. Harrison; "The Race to the Double Helix and Beyond" (history of DNA research featured on postage stamps) by Dr. Roger Griffiths; "The Jewish Internment Camp Letter with St. Louis Connections" (World War I Civilian Alien Internment Camp, Isle of Man) by Victor Silver; "Collecting Coast to Coast: Received in Package Box Collection" (U. S. Post Office mail boxes for 3rd and 4th class mail deposit) by Wayne Youngblood; "Worldwide in a Nutshell: Cook Islands" by Bob Lamb. Please check the images with this listing for the complete Table of Contents of articles in this issue.
