The first edition of this work.With an engraved title page and fifty-two plates. Each plate has two views.Accompanying the plates are sections of introductory text. The accompanying text gives brief historical information on the different parts of Lancashire pictured. Including, the statue of George III, London Road; Wavertree Hall; The Goree Warehouses; and Hulme Hall. In a half diced calf binding. Externally, generally smart. Patches of rubbing to the joints and extremities. Small loss to the head and tail of spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Occasional scattered light spots to pages. Very Good. book.

The full title is "Lancashire Illustrated in a Series of Views, Towns, Public Buildings, Streets, Docks, Churches, Antiquities, Abbeys, Castles, Seats of the Nobility, Etc.". This is the personal copy of the late prominent Lancashire historian Edward Cass. It has been superbly rebound in the traditional style with raised bands in rich brown full calf leather with gilt titling. Internally very clean. Very Good/Fine. The binding shows no wear at all. A lovely item. WILL REQUIRE EXTRA POSTAGE OUTSIDE Uk.

Quarto (28 cm) in half morocco over marbled paper, four raised bands, gilt titles and decorations; 102 fine engraved views (12 cm x 16 cm) by Robert Tallis (?) with tissue guards, two per plate, accompanied by historical commentary on the chapel, waterfront, tower, or country house. Occasional minor damp staining largely confined to margins of last few plates. Very good.
