À son grand regret, l'auteur de la lettre, ami du baron chasseur, a été obligé de rester à Paris. Le château va lui manquer « où l?on peut oublier ses chagrins et cette capitale des beaux-arts et des belles manières, comme vous disiez samedi ? ?quant à moi j?aime bien mieux nos manières à Fort-Oiseau que celles que nous sommes forcés d?avoir ici. Réunion, en une brochure artisanale établie à Londres en juin 1944, des 35 premières livraisons (21 x 27 de 4 pages chacune) reproduites en "photolithogravure" à partir des exemplaires originaux voire des copies photographiques, reçus de France (tel que l'indique le feuillet liminaire) du journal clandestin "Libération" émanation du mouvement de Résistance "Libération-Sud", réseau issu de la rencontre, en automne 1940, du journaliste Emmanuel d'Astier de La Vigerie avec Lucie Aubrac, Jean Cavaillès et Georges Zérapha. Compte tenu des circonstances de cette publication qui célèbre déjà sa légitimité historique et politique, les 11 premiers numéros à part deux ou trois, sont à peine lisibles, les 24 suivants correctement reproduits. Défauts du temps à la brochure sans la moindre atteinte à la réunion.

Un des 25 exemplaires numérotés en chiffres romains Édition originale, tirée à 2000 ex. sur papier BFK de Rives, de ces trois textes d'Aragon, Eluard et Vercors publiés pour le Conseil National de la Résistance à l'occasion des Journées Européennes de la Résistance afin de célébrer l'engagement des poètes français. Ils sont précédés d'une préface par Emmanuel D'Astier de la Vigerie. La plaquette s'ouvre sur la « Comptine du quai aux fleurs » d'Aragon, poème dont le rythme lui valut d'être plusieurs fois mis en musique. La forme mélodique soutient, en se posant en contraste, une esquisse de Paris comme témoin de la violence. Il a vraisemblablement été titré ainsi en référence à l'appartement qu'occupait alors les d'Astier. Dans « Athena », Éluard exhorte le peuple grec à défendre sa liberté. La mention de la déesse évoque une Grèce antique, mythique, mais on notera qu'à la publication de l'ouvrage, ces vers font écho au contexte de la guerre civile grecque. Dans le récit autobiographique « Désespoir est mort », publié pour la première fois en 1943, Vercors dresse le portrait de trois personnages écrasés par le désespoir au lendemain de l'armistice. Mais le ton change lorsqu'ils observent ensemble un groupe de cannetons à la démarche comiquement martiale. Marges de la couverture et du texte légèrement jaunis., 1er cahier découronné assez peu nettement.
