Paperback. Condition: NEUF. Le pont antique de Sommières constitue l'ouvrage le plus important de la Gaule Narbonnaise entièrement conservé de nos jours. Sa présence induit le développement et l'organisation urbaine de la ville au cours des siècles. La construction du pont est attribuée au règne de Tibère, (14-37 apr. J.-C.). A l'origine situé sur la Via Luteva, un axe de circulation parallèle à la Via Domitia, qui facilitait les liaisons commerciales entre les Cévennes et la capitale Némausus.Le pont s'étendait sur 190 m de long et comptait au moins 17 arches. L'habitat qui s'est greffé dès le XIIIe siècle sur une partie du pont, a fortement dégradé celui-ci. L'empiètement des habitations s'est ensuite régulièrement poursuivi du XVe au XIXe siècles. Plusieurs réparations furent entreprises dès le XVe siècle. D'autres travaux furent effectués au XVIIe siècle par Henri Pitot (1756-58) puis au XIXe siècle.Les analyses réalisées dans le cadre du Secteur Sauvegardé, ont permis de révéler la valeur unique de l'ouvrage. Le pont de Sommières compte parmi les rares ponts habités encore existants et utilisés de nos jours en Europe, comme le Ponte Vecchio de Florence (Italie). En région, il est le seul ouvrage antique conservé dans son entier et habité depuis le Moyen-Âge. Les études ont également permis de révéler le nombre exact d'arches d'origine (plus de 20), dont seules 7 sont actuellement visibles.Le pont a fait l'objet de nombreuses études (fouilles archéologiques, recherches historiques, relevés en 3D).Dans le but de rendre accessible et lisible cet ouvrage d'art à tous, le pont sera à l'honneur lors des Journées du Patrimoine de juin et septembre 2011 à travers des visites-conférences. - Nombre de page(s) : 120 - Poids : 294g - Genre : Architecture, Urbanisme, Packaging, Publicité.
