Rupert bear was first created by Herbert and Mary Tourtel and was taken over by Alfred Bestall in 1935. The Rupert stories were published in the 'Daily Express' to boost sales and in 1936 they published their first annual and have continued to do so every year onward. In the publisher's original pictorial hardback. Original unclipped dust wrapper to '1990'. Externally lovely to most and excellent to '1982, 1981 and 1983' with slight marks to the boards and bumping to the extremities, and to '1993' with Rupert wrapping paper taped to the front free endpaper. 'This Book Belongs to' space filled in to '1982, 1981, 1983, 1980 and 1983'. Wrap to '1990' is lovely. Internally firmly bound with clean and bright pages to all but '1980' which as the odd spot and minimal age toning to the extremities, and tidemarks to the extremities of the front pages to '1983'.
