Original black cloth with gilt lettering spine. The book has clean covers, very faint scuff line front cover (hard to see but visible in raking light), minor bumping to cover edges, distributor sticker (Golden Dawn Books UK) pasted to upper corner of FFEP, no owner marks or writing on any pages, solid binding, no foxing. The original dust jacket has some crinkles/ripples to the laminated coating but no tears, no loss other than price-clipped flap corner. The book measures 239mm tall x 148mm, and has 960 pages, 34 b/w photos, 4 sketches, index. PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK BEING OFFERED.
Hardback. Condition: Very Good. CORRECTED, RE-SET & LIMITED EDITION, 1 of 1000 copies: out of sequence, unnumbered. Large 8vo, pp. xv, [1], 118. White leatherette boards, spine lettered in black, facsimile of Crowley's signature (with the phallic 'A') to upper board. Edges and endpapers black. Slight bend and horizontal creasing to boards, gently darkened towards edges, a few spots. Gently toned, occasional scant spotting. Else, clean and tidy. In the original illustrated monochrome dust jacket: spine darkened towards tail, nick to bottom of front joint, light wear to corners, laminate wrinkled at back panel. Nevertheless, a nice copy of Crowley's uncommon "light erotic verse" collection. Very good/ very good The first edition was privately and anonymously published by Leonard Smithers in 1898, Crowley's final year at Trinity College, Cambridge. Its subtitle ran: "The literary remains of George Archibald Bishop a neuropath of the second empire." The majority of the 100 copies were destroyed by HM Customs in 1924.
