Book
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. "Jugendbildnis Alain-Fournier" presents in German translation, a selection of letters by Alain-Fournier to his family and friends. As the editor says, The book is a self-portrait of sorts, being an "effigy of youth". Further he says (paraphasing), "The beauty and meaning of these letters is not just for young people, but for everyone who wishes to preserve the original purity and innocence of youth, which, for older generations is all to often felt to be lost in distant memory." Alain-Fournier (the pen name of Henri Alban-Fournier, 1886 - 1914) wrote only one novel, "Le Grand Meaulnes" (translated into English as "The Wanderer"), but it is considered one of the great classics of French fiction. Alain-Fournier died tragically young while fighting at the front during the First World War. *************** SERIES : Der Bibliothek Suhrkamp (No. 23). TITLE : Jugendbildnis Alain-Fournier .
