Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Over-sized (quarto). Full calf binding with black spine title labels. The binding shows wear along the edges. We have treated the leather with a professional book conservator's leather dressing to good effect. Pages are tight and clean with no marks. There are tidelines from ancient water stains here and there. Also leaf 745/746 has a long tear and leaf 1135/1136 is half missing on the verical axis. No name of previous owner. No odor. 1,512 pages. The dictionary is thick and heavy. Nevertheless, it is postpaid in the United States. We will not be asking for additional postage provided the addressee resides in the USA. Bound in full brown leather with black leather spine title label. We have treated the leather with book conservator's leather dressing to good effect. Very little wear or scuffing to the binding. No distortion from improper shelving. Pages are tight and clean with no marks. Light foxing throughout. No name of previous owner. No odor. No water damage. No soiling. The bottom fore-edge corner of the first page of advertisements at the rear of the dictionary is missing (a small piece with minimal loss of advertising text).

Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Good black leather with gilt ornamentation. Five raised bands at spine with Webster s Dictionary at second compartment. Raised gilt-decorative framing at covers. Full gilt, intricately-patterned, embossed pagination edges. 1848 date at bottom of title page below Published by George and Charles Merriam statement. Merriam gained publishing rights to Webster's in 1843 with the 1848 Goodrich revision first published in a single volume in 1848. Approximately 10 3/4 X 8 3/4 X 3 1/4 inches. Front cover detached else binding remains snug. Rub wear at edges, corners & raised bands. Foxing at tissue guard & frontis with offsetting of latter to tissue. Foxing/staining at several rear leaves. Text largely bright & unmarked with an occasional small stain. Patterned glossy end papers rubbed in slate grey, source unknown. Verso of front end paper has offsetting of a reversed inked script assumed to be from a former laid in item. Yet a sound copy overall & originally a quite handsome production. Rare. Posts at default media mail rate; priority & international to be quoted.
