Book Condition: Near Fine; one bumped tip; browning to FFFP and end papers. No DJ. Gray cloth boards and spine with bright silver lettering on spine and front board. 448 pp tall 8vo. Harold Nicolson served in the British diplomatic service before becoming an MP in 1935. He married the writer Victoria Sackville-West in 1913, and together they created the famous garden at Sissinghurst. While not an especially remarkable politician in his own right, Nicolson's genius lay in his talents as an observer, and as a journalist and writer. Because of the remarkable relationship with his wife (which was very close yet allowed affairs even with same-sex lovers) and the fact that he moved in high political circles and was intimate with the Bloomsbury Group, he had plenty to observe and write about. A clean and very presentable copy.
