Bound in publisher's original brown cloth with spines stamped in gilt. Spines and covers of all four volumes stamped in blind. Frontispieces in volumes 1-3. Considerable chipping and cracking to spines of all four volumes. Some inner hinges are weak but all are holding. Text block to all four volumes in excellent condition. A good candidate for re-backing. 5 1/2 x 8 5/8 inches. 1,744 pages total. Four undated pages of publisher's advertisments from George Routledge & Co. tipped onto the front free endpaper of volume one.
