Gilt lettering on rubbed spine, and gilt lettering and gilt and coloured decoration on the front cover. Chromolithographic plates and vignettes in subdued colours by various artists. Covers are both darkened and faded and there is a split in the cloth over the whole of the front exterior joint, although the covers are firmly attached. Second free front end-paper has a prize plate headed "Jackson's Charity Prize, Marske" for 1910-1911, it appears that an extra leaf has at some time been tipped onto this page and then later removed.
