The text is illustrated with 12 reproductions from original drawings, in colour, by G. W. Lambert and two maps at the beginning of the text. Green coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured embossed designed to the lower right hand corner of the front panel and gilt coloured titles and illustration to the back strip. In this book the earliest history of Australia is explored, including geology, Indigenous People, the first sighting of Australia  including the early Dutch explorers and before, Abel Tasman, Dampier, white settlement and transportation and gold rush. This book has been rebound in a sympathetic manner  please see photograph. The back strip  original  is somewhat chipped, rubbed and insect damaged. Bumping of the book corners with the underlying board visible with rubbing to the book edges with the underlying board visible. Flecking and rubbing of the book panels and some stains are also present. Light uniform tanning of the text block edges with scattered foxing. Offset tanning and foxing to the end pages with gift inscription to the free front end page. Age toning of the pages with scattered foxing throughout, but heavier at the beginning and at the end of the book. There is not date that is easily found for publication date, but, gift inscription is dated 1910. The first coloured plate has become loose. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
