Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. First Printing. Tan cloth with red lettering and black cover illustration of a man. Minor bump to head and heel of spine. Previous owner bookplate neatly adhered to front pastedown. Signed by the illustrator on front endpaper. Endpapers are discolored from inserted newspaper clipping about the illustrator and his connections to Maine. Small marks at top edge of endpapers from now removed paperclip. Unclipped DJ with $1.50 price shows chipping and rubbing to all edges with several small losses. "There appear here, under 41 headings, 440 maxims, or approximately half of all the maxims Benjamin Franklin wrote. To add to the reader's pleasure are 50 delightful illustrative sketches."
