Presentation inscription on the front free end-paper, probably to Joseph Cookson whose contemporary signature appears on the title. Gutch was a school-fellow of Coleridge and Lamb & lodged with the latter for a period in London. He was to become one of the most foremost provincial journalists of his time and for a great many years was closely associated with Felix Farley's Bristol journal.
