Pages are bright and clear with light tanning and foxing to free endpapers and text block edges. Ex-libris and pencil inscription present on front free endpaper, with a few small nicks along text block edge. Tape marks on rear free endpaper. Boards have light shelf-wear with minor corner bumping and slight crushing to spine ends. Unclipped dust jacket has light wear to surfaces with slight creasing along edges.

In near fine pale blue cloth boards with blind stamped Everyman logo to front, gilt titles to spine. The boards are tight, flat and clean; spine ends very slightly bumped - excellent for 1949. Unmarked orange and white Everyman end papers; prices in pencil on front free end paper. Pink tinted top cut edge; the fore and tail edges are very lightly marked. The text block is in near fine plus condition, very firm, straight and clean pages and looks unread. No dedications etc. Without jacket.
