Her er skildringer af Ditmarskens erobring, Frederik II's kroning, optrin fra Den Nordiske Syvårskrig og fra kongens overdådige begravelsesoptog (det største optrin af sin art i Danmark nogen sinde). ** Peder Resens krønike om Frederik II lægger sig i forlængelse af Arild Huitfeldts Danmarkskrønike, der jo slipper ved Christian III's død i 1559. Værket bygger på et efterladt værk af Christian IV's historiograf Claus Lyschander, men inddrager også adskilligt andet materiale, som Resen fandt frem på Universitetsbiblioteket (hvor hele herligheden gik op i flammer i oktober 1728). Udstyrsmæssigt hører Resens krønike til 1600-tallets prægtigste danske bøger og giver et glimrende indtryk af, hvilke ambitioner Resen havde for sit store danske atlas (som aldrig blev til noget; Resens manuskript gik samme vej som Universitetsbiblioteket i 1728). Som historiefortæller forbinder Resen Arild Huitfeldt med Niels Slange, hvis store biografi om Christian IV begynder, hvor Resens værk om faderen slutter.

V) samt 23 kobberstukne plancher, dobbeltsidede og 4 udfoldelige kobberstukne plancher med de danske kongers våben (komplet). Ganske stort eksemplar med brede marginer (31,5 x 21 cm.), ren og med enkelte spredte brunpletter. På indersiden af forpermen et kobberstukket exlibris "Christian Ernst zu Stolberg". Kobberstikket i dobbeltopslag af Fr.II og Dronning Sophie med en udbedring i foldningen. Originaltrykket af dette pragtværk i dansk boghistorie. De prægtige kobbere fremstiller forskellige krigeriske begivenheder i Kongens regeringstid, festoptog, turneringer m.v.
