Cloth. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. First Edition. 2 vols. [1]-190; iv, 191-317p. 95 plates, 95 printed tissue guards. 251x191 mm. Fine copies, no d.w.s. "As a result of years of constant experimentation, we are now able to photograph the interior of the living eye, thereby recording all that is visible and making a permanent record of it. By the use of photographs, it is possible for physicians to get a clearer idea of the disease with a better conception of the outline of the blood-vessels, the optic nerve and the innumerable retinal and choroidal variations. The absence of color in the picture tends to emphasize these details. . . . This volume, the first in English, is a selection from 4000 photographs made with the Nordenson camera of Zeiss. A large group of cases gathered together, arranged in a regular order, containing sufficient descriptive and clinical information to make diagnosis tenable. For the first time in history, photographic stereoscopic fundi are placed before students of ophthalmoscopy. It will be conceded that for clearness of detail, for beauty of accurate reproduction, nothing has been presented that can be so universally used with so little necessary technical training to understand the things shown." (pp. 5-6.) Becker 81/2. Not in Saltzman sale, nor the Reynolds and Waller catalogues. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
