Paperback. Condition: As New. New. The general situation in Jammu and Kashmir has vastly improved in the recent years. More than before it is apparent today that security is multidimensional and whether it is economy media culture or migration these cannot be compartmentalized and kept away from the all encompassing question of security. Though the security situation has vastly improved there is more to be done. And more to be said about the impact of this improved situation on the peace process that is currently taking place on two axes the New Delhi Islamabad and the New Delhi Srinagar axes. While Indo Pak discussions have been very quite and conducted mainly through back channels the other is in the full light of day and it is a subject of all the contrary pulls of a part of the latter approach with full participation of the rich array of civil society in Srinagar. 128 pp.

North East India is no longer a Terra Incognito to Indian historiography. The researches have brought to light evidences of past cultures of North East India. However there is a need to sustain this enthusiasm and also study and interpret the different sources of the history of this region. The present book serves two fold purpose viz. (i) to expand and analyse the already identified sources and (ii) to share the information about the newly identified sources. The book also emphasizes on the need to explore non conventional oral sources as an alternative and/or supplementary to the conventional recorded sources. The oral sources (folklore folksongs beliefs and superstitions ceremonies rituals etc.) are very important to study history as they reflect on the problems needs and aspirations of the masses at various points of time. The interpretation of the source is also as important as its identification. The present volume aims to interpret and analyse these sources and thus paces the way for further research to put the history of the area in its correct perspective. 290 pp.

Buch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -The book presents a broad and in-depth overview of recent achievements and the current state of research in magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) oscillatory and wave phenomena in the coronae of the Sun and stars. Major progress in coronal wave studies has been achieved thanks to the combination of high-precision multi-wavelength observations with spaceborne and ground-based facilities, elaborated theory of the interaction of MHD waves with plasma non-uniformities, state-of-the-art numerical simulations, and novel data analysis techniques. It has allowed the research community to reach a new look at the role played by MHD wave processes in the enigmatic phenomena of coronal plasma heating and wind acceleration as well as powerful energy releases such as flares and coronal mass ejections. In addition, the waves are intensively used as natural probes in the remote diagnostics of the coronal plasma parameters and physical processes operating in solar and stellar coronae via the method of MHD seismology. Individual chapters cover recent cutting-edge results obtained on the analysis and theoretical modelling of several most intensively studied coronal MHD wave phenomena, namely, kink and sausage oscillations of coronal loops and other field-aligned plasma structures, plus running and standing slow magnetoacoustic waves. A dedicated chapter assesses the reliability of proposed theoretical mechanisms for heating of the coronal plasma by MHD waves. Another chapter summarizes the current state of our understanding of the physical mechanisms and observational properties of quasi-periodic pulsations in solar flares, considers their analogy with similar processes detected in stellar flares, and thus establishes solid ground for the further exploitation of the solar-stellar analogy. An important discussion of novel data analysis techniques designed recently for MHD seismology applications is presented in a devoted chapter. The direction of future advances in the designated research areas are discussed. The book is a spin-off from the Topical Collection 'Oscillatory Processes in Solar and Stellar Coronae' of the journal Space Science Reviews. 396 pp. Englisch.
