Hardcover. Condition: New. Dust Jacket Condition: New. 1st Edition. First edition, first printing. Signed by Goicolea. Hardcover. Cloth, with dust jacket. Photographs and drawings by Anthony Goicolea. 188 pp., with 100 four-color plates. 14 x 11 inches. New (opened only for signature). From the publisher "Anthony Goicolea's third book is an amalgam of photographs and drawings. Though the artist no longer uses himself as a model, he continues to use the motifs of his earlier work. All male, and under thirty, Goicolea's subjects seem to have left their public schoolboy roots behind, and matriculated in an environment which is otherworldly, replete with codes and rituals unfamiliar to the viewer. Often appearing in matching 'uniforms'--everything from red hooded sweatshirts to white underwear--Goicolea's tribe of boys kiss under moonlight, build forts in strange, idyllic environs, 'Christen' each other in shallow pools, and engage in a mischief whose purpose is never quite clear." Signed by Author.

Condition: Dustjacket with slightest trace of use. Book inside and outside new, mint, unread. Overall excellent condition! Collector`s copy! "Across the specific differences among Goicolea`s works, the artist tirelessly excavates human weakness, awkwardness, and discomfort. Toward the end, he returns again and again to his themes of adolescent sexuality, unflinching self-exploration, and the contest between victims and victimizers. We are torn between the desire to witness these strivers and underdogs evolve gloriously into calm, powerful grown-ups, and wanting to observe the Peter Pans as they play out the struggles of adolescence - such apt metaphors for the rest of life`s battles - into eternity." Hardcover. Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. First edition, first printing. Hardcover. Fine tan cloth-covered boards with tipped-in four-color plate on cover, and title stamped in black on spine, no dust jacket as issued. Drawings by Anthony Goicolea. Includes a list of plates. Designed by Jack Woody. Unpaginated (64 pp.), with 35 four-color plates beautifully printed on fine matte art paper. 10-3/4 x 8-5/8 inches. This first edition was limited to 1000 hardbound copies. Fine. From the artist: "The sense of foreboding tinged with playful fantasy characteristic of many of my photographs is mimicked in a suite of complex figurative line drawings on Mylar. Androgynous figures of indeterminate age float on top of and through each other in a layered composition separated by planes of Plexiglas and semi-opaque vellum paper. The ghostlike figures are caught in free-floating, awkward, transitional states: sometimes their images are doubled; sometimes they seem like as much animal as human. Optically, the figures fade in and out of each other in a series of tentative lines that read like traces of previous drawings and refer to memory and transition. The figures' relationship to the water's horizon line seems to shift within a single drawing. This horizontal reference point separates air from water and reality from fantasy while it transforms the swimmers' shapes and sizes. This shift mimics the play of light through water, seeming to actually pass through the two worlds and to fracture the figure caught between them. These absurd predicaments strive to provoke conflicting emotions in the viewer. Scenes which would normally appear threatening, dangerous, or grotesque inspire empathy as well as fear, and ultimately are revealed to be more complex than was first assumed.".

Hardcover. Condition: New. Dust Jacket Condition: New. 1st Edition. First edition, first printing. Signed in black ink on the colophon page by Goicolea. Hardcover. Photographically illustrated laminated paper-covered boards, with dust jacket. Photographs by Anthony Goicolea. Brief text by Jane Harris. Includes a CD-ROM containing five short video works and "outtakes" by Goicolea, and an interview by Gus Van Sant. The CD-ROM is laid in a printed sleeve affixed to the inside front cover. Designed by Jack Woody and Anthony Goicolea. Unpaginated, with 153 four-color plates, beautifully printed on heavy fine paper. 9 x 13 inches. This first edition of Anthony Goicolea was limited to 2500 hardbound copies. A scarce signed copy. New in New dust jacket (opened only for signature). A flawless copy. From Harris' text: "Anthony Goicolea's recent landscape photographs read like the travelogue of a puerile mystic: a vision of the natural world where twisted Dr. Doolittle fantasies of frolicking animals take center stage, and pastoral dreams worthy of Virgil and Giorgione are mischievously rearranged. More than idyllic beauty or divine awe, these sublime vistas and picturesque scenes evoke a sense of preternatural kitsch. They are William Blake spirit-visions absurdly derailed, the shenanigans of imbecile angels on the lam, ecstasy-induced plots in an Arcadian farce. Ultimately, of course, they are the digital antics of an artist who sees in the genre of landscape yet another malleable tableau. And, as with his photographs of himself in replica, each boy clone playing a part in some larger psycho-sexual drama, every element--flora or fauna--is given a role." From Jennifer Dalton: "Across the specific differences among Goicolea's works, the artist tirelessly excavates human weakness, awkwardness, and discomfort. Toward the end, he returns again and again to his themes of adolescent sexuality, unflinching self-exploration, and the never-ending contest between victims and victimizers. We are torn between the desire to witness these strivers and underdogs evolve gloriously into calm, powerful grown-ups and wanting to observe the Peter Pans as they play out the piercing struggles of adolescence -- such apt metaphors for the rest of life's battles -- into eternity."
