Hardcover. Condition: Fair. Vol 2 of 8 Volume set. End papers are beautifully marbled, as are page edges. Leather boards front and back are detached, the spine is peeling away from backing. Cover has stains and old dead mildew marks. Binding is otherwise still tight. Last two pages are stained. Ex library copy with Goddard College William R. Shipman Library sticker, and gift sticker on inside front cover. Library card slot on back cover. Name written on flyleaf and notations on publishing page. Small notation near spine on contents page.

Some scattered internal browning. Engraved Frontispiece, "Drawn from a bust of Roubiliac's _ M. I. Danforth S. C.", and Engraved Title Page, by "Bisell sc.", followed by Publishers secondary Title page. Some wear, age as above, but still an extremely readable copy, with no binding issues. A very good full polished calf leather hardback with detauiled gilt decoration to spine and burgundy morocco label with gilt title. Mild bumping and wear to boards with a little creasing to spine. Bookplate of Hamilton Montgomerie of Newton (Scotland) to first pastedown. Front inner hinge cracked, but still soundly bound. Some offsetting to blank endpapers. Text is very good throughout - bright and clean. Some mild corner creasing to text pages and a touch of offsetting opposite plates, but overall a very nice example. Frontispiece + title + ii Contents + xxxi + 323pp + 6pp additional Plates. Text in English. Dimensions: approximately 185mm high x 120mm wide x 35mm deep. Unpacked weight approximately 490g.
