Condition: Very Good+. 1st edition thus. 640pp, numerous b/w woodcut illustrations, tall quarto rebound in vellum boards, title, author and dates "1556" and "1912" stamped in black to spine, 4 raised bands to spine, side and bottom page edges deckled. minor bumping to bottom fore-edge corners, mild wear top of vellum spine, vellum looks to be separating at hinge ends of front board (1" at bottom, 1/2" at top) yet boards remain strongly attached with no signs of weakness, light wear to spine yet titles remain clear and legible, minor wear to rear board, binding and block remain strong and solid, bookplate and mild toning to front pastedown, numbers "02653" inked to second prelim, interior text and images clean, overall excellent shape for this classic title in metallurgy.
