He travelled from London to Arabia, India, China, the Orient and over the Pacific to the USA. During his travels, he sketched interesting scenes, plants and people. He had his sketches made into colourful lithographs for this volume.The plates are from his drawings and depict plants, fruits, views and natives along the route. All most attractively drawn and reproduced.

Small blindstamp on the titlepage, spine a bit soiled but o/w a near fine copy. Frederickson [1823-1900], an amateur biologist, published this work based on his diary of travels in 1870-1 and 1876-78 detailing his expeditions to India, Ceylon, Indonesia, China, and North America. Five of the twelve chapters are devoted to India. The attractive plates detail the native population as well as details of the plants and fruit of the area.
