Valerie Bond. Study of a bone or rock in ink and wash, not dated but circa 1946. On verso Sven from Valerie The studio sale embossed blind stamp is in lower right corner. Sheet has even toning with two rust marks from pins in top corners margin and lower margin a little grubby, pin hole in image, else good. Sheet Size 13 x 18cm (5 x 7 inches) This drawing was in the collection of Sven Berlin. Valerie Bond is known to have studied with Bernard Leach from 1945-46. She would have met Sven during this period. I suspect as like most women artists of that period, and even today, welfare of husbands and family came first in their life and her art career stopped, although she was a talented artist.
