Original lithographed poster by Jiri Rathousky. 122 x 84 cm, in good condition with some minor tears on edges along with a small hole at the bottom of the poster. Jiří Rathouský ( April 20, 1924 Prague September 5, 2003 Prague ) was a Czech typographer and graphic designer . He was the author of the first unified visual style of the Prague metro . Life In the years 1945 1949, he studied art education at the PedF, Charles University in Prague. His studies were interrupted for ideological reasons and his discharge was not recognized until 1992. Rathouský was often involved in professional discussions about the quality of visual communication in public space. That is why he was also active in the Czech branch of the International Institute for Information Design in the 1990s. The work The original design of the Metron typeface from 1970 74 He created the graphic form of a number of Czech editions for the publishing houses Academia , Albatros , Artia , Mladá fronta , Olympia , etc. For the Gama edition of the Odeon publishing house, he designed the experimental typeface Alphapipe (1974; digitized and supplemented by Radek Sidun in 2014 ). He participated in the designs of Czechoslovak expositions at world exhibitions in Brussels, Belgium ( Expo 58 ), Montreal, Canada ( Expo 1967 ) and Osaka, Japan ( Expo 1970 ). Between 1970 and 1974, he designed for the Transport Company hl. City of Prague Metron font , the visual appearance of individual stations and the overall graphic solution of the information system. He created the information system for the Intercontinental and Parkhotel hotels in Prague or the Thermal hotel in Karlovy Vary. He also produced a number of cultural posters (e.g. the movie poster Old Men on Hops from 1964 or a series of posters for the ATypI international congress held in Prague in 1969). He was a member of SČUG Hollar . Together with his wife Dora Nováková, he founded the Máj group (1957) and the Horizont group (1959). Seller Inventory # 23660
