A scarce FINE large group of three engravings depicting a Western view of the Yokohama railway in 1877. An 'Old and New' theme contrasting road transport with a train; 'tickets please'; interior of a railway carriage. The profile of a steam train is clear and the carriage interior contrasts two cultures through the travellers.Yokohama Railway Station had opened in May (June)1872. Slight show-through of reverse text but not serious. Generous margins. Full image size: 30cm by 22cm. Page size: 40cm by 29cm.
