Study of a seated woman clothed. Drawn in red pastel on buff paper. Not dated but circa 1965. Atelier Stamp on verso. In good condition. Sheet size 560 x 440mm (22.5 x 17.5 inches) Not mounted/ matted. Gerald Judah Ososki British 1903-1981 Gerald Ososki, landscape portrait and decorative painter. He was born in London of Russian Jewish parentage and studied at the St. Martins School of Art from 1917-1922, and then at the Royal College of Art from 1922-1926, on the recommendation of his tutor Professor William Rothenstein. During in the 1930 s he worked for Roffe Ltd. which specialized in cinemas and theatre interior decoration. In the World War II he worked as a camouflage artist, after which he turned his firms attention at the restoration and conservation of historic buildings. St. James Palace, Clarence House and Buckingham Palace were among commissions. He had a one-man show at Claridge Gallery in 1930 and at the Mall Galleries in 1973. Ben Uri Art Gallery had a retrospective in 1987. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Society of British Artist; was part of the Tate Gallery s Seventeen Collectors Exhibition ; exhibited at the Leicester Gallery, The Mall galleries, New English Art Club, Goupil Gallery ,Redfern Gallery and exhibited widely in the USA, Canada and Australia. He was awarded the De Laszlo medal by the Royal Society of British Artists in 1972. During his lifetime the works ranged from watercolour studies in the grand tradition of the old masters, to bold compositions of a textural quality. Seller Inventory # 60002820
