Lithograph by Francis Bott printed on Marais watermarked paper. Printed in blue, green, black, red and brown. Signed, dated 51 and one of 22 copies by the artist in pencil. Slight handling creases, one diagonal crease at one corner and a small greenish satin in the opposing corner, all of which are in the margin and could be mounted out. Image size 380 x 480mm; Page Size 500 x 650m (Ref: Henze 162) In the 1930 s-40 s Bott exhibited at the Galerie Maeght Surrealist show organised by André Breton and Marcel Duchamp. However, after 1948 Bott s work transformed into abstraction and he was showing alongside Pierre Soulages, Hans Hartung and Ben Nicholson. A film made in 1957 about him, Soulages and Vieira da Silva, titled Three Artists From Montparnasse they were the centre of the École de Paris movement at the time.The lithograph was made in this period.
