From "Receuil de Planches, pour la Nouvelle Edition du Dictionnaire Raisonne", an accompanying plate volume for a quarto size Diderot / d'Alembert Encyclopedia ed., which was published in Geneva by Pellet. Depiction of different lyres and other instruments from Classical antiquity. Engraving on laid paper. Watermark: Textband Made by 'Robert Benard' after own design. Robert Benard (1734 1777) was mainly known for having supplied a significant amount of plates (at least 1,800) to the Encyclopedie by Diderot & d'Alembert from 1751. Very good, given age. Ample margins and some foxing. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully. The overall size is ca. 21 x 28 cm.
