This is published after 1869. His stamp was found on removed paper on rear (Lugt 2934).Biography engraver: Charles Amand-Durand (1831-1905) was a French printmaker. He was the pioneer in France of making and publishing photogravure (héliogravure) reproductions of engravings and etchings. His main series of facsimiles of old master prints began in 1869, usually published in portfolios with accompanying text by G.Duplessis. His prints have a stamp in red on the verso: see Lugt 2934.Biography artist: Paulus Potter (1625-1654) This painter from Enkhuizen died in Amsterdam when he was not even 30 years old as one of the better known Dutch painters. Potter was one of the first artists ever to choose animals as his main subject. In this he was sublime. He was in many eyes the most heralded Dutch animal artist. His art is all the more remarkable considering that he died at the age of twenty-nine and thus his oeuvre is small in number. Both a painter and printmaker he created only eighteen etchings. Condition: good, given age. Remains of paper on blank reverse. Hole in plate and bottom paper edge backed. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling.
