Original lithograph in colours by Aldo Patocchi. 64/75 edition, signed by the artist. 35 x 51 cm, in fine condition. Aldo Patocchi was born on 22.7.1907 in Basel and died on 4.9.1986 in Lugano. In 1913 he moved with his family. in Ticino, in 1915 in Lugano. He was introduced to artistic studies by Giuseppe Zoppi, his teacher at the gymnasium, who introduced him to Ettore Cozzani, director of L'Eroica , with whom he collaborated from 1925 as an illustrator. Self-taught woodcut printer, one of the protagonists of Ticino graphics of the 20th century, he was president. (1934-39) and vice president. (1962-65) of the Ticino section of the Swiss Painters, Sculptors and Architects Association, co-founder of the association. swiss Xylos (1944), pres. of the association internal of the Xylon wood engravers (1975-84) and promoter of the international Biennial. of Black and White . Journalist and man of culture, he was editor-in-chief of the magazine Illustration Ticino(from 1934), superintendent of the museums of the city of Lugano (1938-77) and member of the Pro Helvetia Foundation (1950-62).
