This is a custom-bound volume of 12 issues of the monthly publication "Our Young Folks Illustrated Magazine for Boys and Girls." The volume contains the issues January through December, 1866. Volume II. This collection is uncommon in that the issues come with their original, orange front and back covers. Published by Ticknor and Fields in Boston. The issues are illustrated (most have an engraved frontispiece - the frontispieces for November and December are in color) and contain works of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, advertisements, games, puzzles, letters, music, etc. There is an illustrated color title page for the volume at the front. With a list of contents for the volume as a whole at the front, and a contents page on the inside front cover of each issue. Here are some examples of the contents: lessons in magic; short stories by Harriet Beecher Stowe, as well a biographical article about her; A Visit to Mount Vernon; The Battle-field of Fredericksburg; Farming for Boys; Richmond Prisons; illustrations by Winslow Homer and F.O.C. Darley; The Tale of the Whale; Memoirs of a Cripple; The Veteran Eagle.and much more. Condition: Modern hardcovers and spine with 12 original issues bound within - each issue contains its original front & back cover. The red hardcovers are clean; the cloth on the spine has faded just a bit; sharp corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. The pages are mostly clean with some occasional light foxing here and there; there are occasional tears to the pages, and a few have a small piece that has torn away at an outer edge. The August issue has light staining at the top-third of the pages throughout the issue. Overall the volume is in Very Good condition. Seller Inventory # ABE-1661265692090
