This 6.0 x 8.75 inch, 370 page hardcover book is the 1931 first edition of this title as shown by that date on the title page and matching the copyright date on the following page. This book is in very good condition with wear showing to the red cloth covers, with black lettering on front panel and gilt lettering on the spine. The cloth shows touches of darkening - - with the spine cloth more visibly faded - - but with the lettering still clearly visible. The front cover has the Harper and Brothers blind stamp on the lower front corner and the corners of this book show bumping but have not worn through at all. The interior text shows a previous owner?s inked name on the ffep dated December, 1931. The text pages are really in at least near fine condition with no marking or damage showing and with the uneven cut on the fore-edges still on the rough side showing little handling or use. This book has long been held as one of the best treatments of the 1920?s America and its features 15 full-page black-and-white illustration's which are all in excellent condition. The author takes the book?s storyline through the decade of the 1920s and features ?The Big Red Scare,? ?The Revolution in Manners and Morals,?
