A Year s Residence in the United States of America by William Cobbett in Three Parts Bound as One, 610 pp, folding map, original blue boards, 9.25 x 6 , 8vo. In as-is condition. Binding copy. Poor. Both boards detached. Blue boards are soiled, stained and heavily worn with loss at corners. Spine perished with only spine label attached, binding exposed. Title of Part I and preliminaries are detached from binding. Deckled edge toned. Internally good with light toning and minor instances of foxing. Folding map in good working order. Binding remains intact. Free of known marginalia or ownership. Please see photos. William Cobbett (1763-1835) was an English pamphleteer, journalist, politician, and farmer born in Farnham, Surrey. He was one of an agrarian faction seeking to reform Parliament, abolish "rotten boroughs", restrain foreign activity, and raise wages, with the goal of easing poverty among farm labourers and small land holders.
