About this Item
This VG- quality book was published in 1943 by the Grosset & Dunlap and is 7-5/8" tall with 214 numbered pages of text. This book--one-piece dark green binding with black lettering and illustration--has a bit of a lean, is reasonably clean, free of edge dings with both upper corners very lightly bumped; the head and heel of the spine are very lightly bumped. The bottom edges have a moderate amount of wear but the front corner is worn down to the board. The interior is completely free of writing, stray marks and page damage of any type; pages 119-152 have a triangular shaped water stain centered on the spine--at its worst, it reaches as high as the sixth line of type (from the bottom) and is not a distraction to reading. Both hinges are strong and undamaged. The text paper is modestly toned and slightly darker around the edges, but is still flexible and not brittle. There is no wartime paper compliance notice in the book, suggesting that this is a later, post-war, edition. The only illustration, the frontis, is on plain paper and is present and intact. The list on the rear panel of the jacket list through this title; however, it also lists a 1945 Red Randall title. The book has no remainder mark and is not a former library book. The VG- quality jacket is reasonably clean and not faded, though the spine is somewhat soiled. There are small chips at both rear corners as well as at the head of the spine; there are larger chips at the heel of the spine, at the bottom front corner and at the top of the front panel.
