8vo., 9 volumes, frontispiece to each volume, half title with 'The Works of Alfred Lord Tennyson' in all but Demeter and Becket. Uniformly bound in full polished maroon calf, gilt, spine with raised bands lettered direct with various gilt motifs incl. a portcullis to the base and a rose and crown to the head, with the rose and portcullis possibly indicating previous ownership by a peer, front and back boards with a large gilt stamp of Coll. Christi Cant. (Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. Christopher Marlowe is perhaps the best known of the alumni), blind stamped with floral motif to corners, all edges gilt, a handsome and attractive set in very good condition.
